A New Year and a new Blog to follow on a resolution to track through my favorite obsession – Comic Books
I have a project underway which started off in hard copy (a real notebook) and which I am calling my Golden Avenger Notebook as I work my way through the entire publishing run of the Marvel Comics character Iron Man from Tales of Suspense #39 to the current volume. This is intended to be a critical examination of what is understood to be called continuity and its relationship to what would otherwise be understood to be character in any literary mode by focusing on a single character written by multiple creators over an extended period of time. It also hopes to add to the study of genre in general in its variability of kinds of discourse.
Needless to say this will lead to many digressions of tenuous relevance but I hope to hew some learning for myself from the experience.
